What is happening?

In September 2024 a convoy of emergency service vehicles, and supporting equipment, will be driving from the UK to The Gambia.

We are aiming for at least 25 vehicles including ambulances and fire engines.

Any money you can contribute will be used to help deliver valuable life saving vehicles and equipment to a country in need.

Why?

When you call 999 (or 911, or 112!) you expect them to arrive quickly, with the best equipment, ready to help you in your time of need.

Imagine calling the emergency services and there isn't anyone who comes to help. No fire engines to put out a house fire. No ambulances to take sick or dying people to hospital.

Sadly, for many, this is reality.

In 2019 The Gambia Fire and Rescue Service had just six fire stations and appliances for the entire country of approximately 2.5 million people.

In September 2022 the Emergency Services Aid Charity donated 18 emergency vehicles to The Gambia, doubling their existing fleet.

In 2024 we are aiming to double it again!

The Emergency Services Aid Charity is aiming to donate a further 25 emergency vehicles to help bring life saving equipment to a greater population.

Where does the money go?

Getting the vehicles from the UK to The Gambia isn't simple... Driving them through Western Europe to the bottom of Spain is the 'easy' part, after that you need to cross the Mediterrean Sea, drive across the Sahara Desert, using some of the roughest roads in the world!

Your money will be used to help cover the costs of buying the vehicles which will be donated, ensuring they are ready to be delivered, and contributing towards fuel, ferry crossings, visas and equipment etc.

Don't worry, you're not funding our holiday! Food and everyday expenses will be coming out of our pockets.

Who are you?

Hi, we're Jane and Greg! Two ex-police officers, now police staff, who enjoy an adventure as well as helping others.

Jane has spent her career working for the British Transport Police, with nearly 30 years as an officer and now working as police staff in the Professional Standards Department. She enjoys cycling, yoga, and travelling!

Greg worked for Surrey Police for around 10 years before moving to Sheffield to study for a law degree at the University of Sheffield, whilst working part time for the British Transport Police.
