Campaign by Change for Good (RCN 1148824)
A 21 mile sponsored relay-walk across London, passing London prisons to highlight stories and raise money for Change for Good.

Story

Janet and Wendy are two prison chaplains taking part in the Walk Beyond Bars 2024 to raise money for the charity 'Change for Good'. We have been assigned the stretch between HMP Wandsworth and HMP Brixton. Please support us in our venture to raise money for and awareness of the excellent 'Change for Good' does in the community to help and support ex-offenders.

Below is a little about the work 'Change for Good' do in the community:

Many of those we support leave prison with nothing other than the daunting prospect of starting again.

"WHEN I WENT TO PRISON, I WAS EXCOMMUNICATED FROM MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS, HAD NO HOUSING OR FUTURE PROSPECTS. WHAT I GAINED FROM NEXT CHAPTER WAS MORE THAN JUST PRACTICAL SUPPORT, IT WAS FAMILY."

The Walk Beyond Bars was conceptualised in our Next Chapter support group, made up of members who have all experienced what is is like to leave prison and transition to a life in the community. Members, volunteers and friends of CfG will take part in a sponsored relay walk of 21 miles, past London prisons to highlight the stories of prison leavers and raise funds for the vital work of the charity.
