Jason's fundraiser for SportInspired

Jason Lacey is raising money for SportInspired
Cycling for Good is an employee-driven charity bike ride initiative at UBS that connects colleagues from different countries and business divisions and functions to ride together, bringing tangible benefits to community partners.

Story

This August, I’m taking on one of my biggest challenges to date: Cycling for Good (C4G) – an amazing UBS initiative led by employees that brings colleagues from all over the world together to raise money for charities in our local communities.

I’ll be riding 680km over five days, from Munich to Padova in Italy, climbing a brutal 11,700 metres along the way – that’s more elevation than Mount Everest (which tops out at 8,849m)! or the equivalent of 125 km and 2,340 meters of ascent per day for 5 days. To put that in perspective the pro peloton in the 2025 Tour de France will cover an average of 158km with 2,450 meters of climbing per day – albeit in a much quicker pace!

We’ll be doing all of this in August, when temperatures could easily hit the high 30s.

Since 2014, C4G riders have raised over £1 million for grassroots charities around the world. This year, we’re supporting SportInspired, a brilliant charity working with children and young people in the UK’s most deprived communities.

For 17 years SportInspired has been working directly with children and young people from the UK's 20% most deprived communities. These children are 3x more likely to experience mental health issues, 2x more likely to be obese by 11, and face worse unemployment prospects. SportInspired use sports-based events to instil the requisite behaviours, skills and beliefs in these children, to improve wellbeing and overall life chances of those who need it most.

We’d love your support to help us power through the 680km ahead. Every donation – big or small – goes a long way in supporting vital local causes.
