Team Hebrides 2025 - Jayne Archer

Jayne Archer is raising money for Parkinson’s UK

Team: Team Hebrides 2025

160 miles Trek of Hebridean Way · 1 June 2025

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

In June 2025, Three ladies (all of a good old age!), will be setting off on a 160 mile trek across the Outer Hebrides off the North Western coastal waters of Scotland. Ruth's husband Mark is suffering from this horrid debilitating disease and the love and kindness shown to Ruth and her family at this time has been invaluable. We now want to help make someone else's life easier in the future by assisting with fund raising for more research.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to everyone that supported our Quiz night in the village hall on Saturday 15th February. The support was incredible. We had 21 teams, 113 people and with the raffle and auction we raised a massive £1570.

Our 2nd event was the Easter Fun Run in the grounds of Powderham Castle estate we raised £700, and a good day was had by all who attended.

On 30th May, we left Kenton and headed up to Oban to catch the ferry to Castlebay on the Outer Hebrides. A 160 mile walk from south to north of the islands.

Week one has seen us reach North Uist on the west coast. We have met lots of lovely people on the way including Ian from Parkinson's UK who works here in the Hebrides - then we met his aunty, his mum on Facebook and his cousin who drives the bus. Struan teas are also a skilled delight up here. We have met many lovely people on route who have loved what we are doing and who have donated to us as well. Nico, cycling the Hebridean Way fir Parkinson's UK in aid of his mum bumped in to us yesterday on his route north. A well deserved day of rest today. Back on thr road tomorrow.
