Story
Hello – I’m Jeff, and I’m taking on the London Marathon in 2026 to raise funds for Guide Dogs. This will be my biggest challenge yet, and I’m really excited to get started.
I live with a rare genetic condition called Usher syndrome, which affects both my hearing and vision. I was born profoundly deaf and diagnosed at just 10 months old. I had cochlear implant surgery at the age of 3½, and since then I’ve worn my implant to hear artificially – it’s helped me develop strong speech and listening skills over time.
Just before I turned 11, I was diagnosed with Usher syndrome after noticing that my peripheral vision was narrowing and I was struggling in low-light conditions – classic symptoms of Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP).
Despite the challenges of being Deafblind, I love to travel and push myself with new experiences to keep life interesting and meaningful. I’m so proud to be representing Guide Dogs – a charity close to my heart. In fact, I’m currently waiting to be matched with my very own guide dog!
Several fun facts about me:
– I used to build wooden roller coasters in my garden
– I’ve braved a 15,000ft tandem skydive
– My last fundraising challenge was a 6,000m swim
– I’ve only attempted a full marathon distance once
– I’ll be running the London Marathon with my guide runner, who’s been brilliant to train with
Any donation – big or small – would mean the world to me. I’m aiming to raise at least £2,000, and with your help, I know I can do it. Please feel free to share my link and help spread the word.

About Guide Dogs
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives.
Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
