Story
I’d love to tell you I’m a seasoned runner aiming for a sub-4-hour finish…
But the truth? I’m not really a runner…. I’m far too prone to chafing, too fair weathered, and like cake too much!
So naturally, I entered the London Marathon ballot… and got in!
Since January, I’ve been on a mission. After over a decade of doing next to no exercise, I threw myself into spin, pump, and aqua classes. Still no running (oops), but here we are facing the iconic 26.2 miles of the London Marathon. A huge challenge for me, yes, but it’s nothing compared to the emotional and mental challenges faced by those living with alopecia.
My daughter Emily, my brother Ben, and my dad Tim all have alopecia, resulting in total hair loss. The impact of this condition is so often misunderstood and underestimated. It’s not just about losing hair… it’s about battling anxiety, isolation, and a huge knock to confidence.
There’s very little research, even less awareness, and zero government funding. That’s why I’m supporting Alopecia UK, a small but mighty charity doing incredible work with limited resources. They rely entirely on donations, from generous people like you, to keep going.
If you can, please support me with a donation. Any amount, big or small, will mean the world to me and might just get me across the finish line with a smile (or at least still standing…. Or worst case crawling!)
