Story
It was 8 years ago that Daisy was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome and the family had no idea she wouldn't make it to her 10th birthday.
This year we're running Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Reverse Rett. We didn't know when we signed up it would be in Daisy's memory.
I'm so incredibly proud of my mates, Em and Dave, who are grieving their wonderful daughter and still finding the fight to get out there, train and race for other little boys and girls that Rett affects.
It'll be an honour to run with Em again, and remember Daisy. She's the reason I run and I can't put into words what that little girl has done for so many - me included. When I'm struggling to run I think of her and tell myself to be like Daisy - “be brave, keep going”.
Reverse Rett do amazing work supporting families like Daisy's and in their research to one day find a cure for this cruel condition - it's not out of the question.
I know I've asked a lot lately and you've been so generous. I promise I won't ask again for a good while. If you're able to give, we'll love you forever. If you can't give but you can share, you get the love too 🙏🏻
Our beautiful, wonderful Daisy died in April, aged just 9 years old. Daisy was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome at the age of 2 and spent much of her life in and out of hospital due to the severe and complex health conditions that Rett Syndrome caused. Myself, Dave and a team of friends will be running Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 13th to raise money for Reverse Rett in Daisy’s memory. We hope that one day soon there will be better understanding and treatments for Rett Syndrome that will mean other children and families don’t have to go through what Daisy and our family did. This one is for you Daisy - we miss you so much ❤️
Em, Daisy's mom.
