We are raising money for St Cuthbert’s Hospice In Patient Unit in memory of our amazing Dad, Pat, and as a small way of saying thank you to the incredible people who cared for him during the final part of his life.

Dad initially went into St Cuthbert’s for symptom management, but sadly, due to the cruel progression of his illness, he required end of life palliative care. We will be forever grateful that a bed was available for him when he needed it most.

Our family was with Dad every hour of every day. We spent our days there and slept there .The staff made us feel completely at home during the hardest time of our lives. They didn’t just care for Dad, they cared for all of us.

Nothing was ever too much. From their kindness, reassurance and compassion, to allowing us to bring our dogs in to see Dad, they gave us the most precious gift — the ability to simply be together as a family.

Dad was treated with incredible dignity, tenderness and respect, right until he took his last breath. We will never be able to thank them enough for the care they gave him.

It costs over £2 million every year to keep St Cuthbert’s running and they rely solely on charity donations , their incredible services are provided without charge. This page is our small way of giving something back, so another family can experience the same incredible care and compassion that we did.
