Jim and Clare's fundraiser for World Bicycle Relief

Jim Belben is raising money for World Bicycle Relief

Team: WHOOSH 2026 1-5 May for World Bicycle Relief

Whoosh 2026 - Severn Source to Sea · 1 May 2026

In many rural areas across the globe children are denied access to basic needs due to the barrier of distance. World Bicycle Relief’s mission is to provide sustainable, appropriate bicycles to mobilise and empower individuals and communities so they can travel to schools, clinics and markets.

Story

Once again we are joining the WHOOSH team for another pedal power adventure. This time aiming to raise enough money to purchase 100 bikes for World Bicycle Relief

Why WBR? Well cycling is so important to us of course - almost everyday of the year we cycle somewhere. But whereas that may be a lifestyle choice for us in south London, in some parts of the world access to a bicycle has a massive impact on an individual and a community's fortune and prospects.

World Bicycle Relief is an award winning social enterprise that wants to break the barrier to education, healthcare and economic opportunity that many people face because of distance.

Their mission is to provide 'Buffalo Bikes' designed for challenging rural conditions and to set up a network of mechanics so that individuals and communities can travel to schools, clinics and market.

From the horses mouth a message to us all from WBR's Ben Sadler.

Our route this year will be 280 mile ride from Aberystwyth to Bristol following the River Severn from its source high in the Welsh mountains to the sea at the Bristol Channel.

All donations are sent directly to the charity from JustGiving, with no costs deducted, and as usual, the team fund all expenses themselves.
