Story

**** Update: Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge ****

Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East, the Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge 2026 has unfortunately been postponed until 31st January 2027, as travel to the region is currently not possible.

Regrettably, I am unable to take part on the new date due to prior commitments.

All donations that had been made on this page for MAG International to date will still go to their worthy cause.

Although I won’t be participating in the rescheduled event, I intend to take part in a series of high energy activities across 2026/27 that will ensure my training is still required!

This will be in the name of our 2026 Charity Partners at Dunns Food and Drinks, Talbot Association. Our Talbot fundraising page can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/page/dunns-talbot .

Any donations that had already been made directly to me will, with your permission, go towards the incredible work of the Talbot Association. I remain incredibly grateful for all the support received so far.

Thank you again for your generosity and support.

Initial Background:

Over the last decade, over 130 UK Wholesale, Convenience, FMCG and Service Provider executives have cycled across Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, the UK and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and most recently Tanzania, raising over £1.5 million for MAG (Mines Advisory Group) – the Manchester based charity, awarded Co-Laureate of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for its role in the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.

Every day, 15 people are killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs. Almost half of casualties are children. MAG’s teams around the world remove these items for good from communities affected by conflict. Every landmine and weapon taken out of the ground is a life saved, an injury prevented, and a community given the chance to rebuild.

The Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge 2026 is the “last one for the road” and the 11th challenge taken on by the Bikes Against Bombs team.
