Story

Thames Valley Air Ambulance is the charity that gives everybody in our community the best chance of surviving and recovering from an emergency.

Were here for you and your loved ones. Whoever you are. Wherever and whenever you need us. In Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire

When you think of the work of Thames Valley Air Ambulance, perhaps knowing someone we've helped, you most likely imagine it starts the moment our paramedics and doctors respond to a call. But actually, every mission starts with supporters like you. Your kindness is the first link in a chain of events that could ultimately save someone's life.

As a charity, we rely on the generosity of our supporters. We don't receive any funding from the government or National Lottery. This means people like you keep our helicopter in the air and our critical care response vehicles on the road.

Sambo’s Story

Sam Connor Goodwin (Sambo to friends/family), was 28 years old when he lost his life due to a motorbike accident on the Pyebush roundabout in beaconsfield in April 2022. He was and still is a very much loved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to a lot of people.

On the night of his accident the Thames Valley Air Ambulance arrived and along with the paramedics they worked as hard as they could on my brother on the side of the road for around an hour before the Air Ambulance took him to The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he was put into a induced coma. Then we was told without going into any detail that there was nothing more they could do for him and we would need to make a decision. The next day was my mums birthday and we had to go back to turn off his machine. He didn’t go alone though as we was all in there with him and the car park loads of old friends and family outside supporting him and us as a family too. He also had the best send off and the biggest funeral I’ve ever seen and that just showed us how much our boy was loved by so many people.

If it wasn’t for the medical team and the Air Ambulance Service/staff we wouldn’t have been so lucky to be able to be with him when he passed unlike a lot of families who have lost their loved ones at the scene with none of their friends of family around them. Each year we lose so many people due to road accidents especially bikers and the Air Ambulance Service can make a real difference in saving our lives. They are not government funded and rely on donations from the general public.

Last year was our first memorial ride out in memory of all our bikers who have lost their life and it was a success so this year we are doing Sambo’s Angel Bikers Day Memorial Ride Out To Bournemouth to raise money for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance Service. We would kindly appreciate it if you could join us on the ride out and/or make voluntary donation on the day or via the go fund me page via the link below.

Thank you for taking your time out to read this we look forward to seeing you all on the day. Any further questions please feel free to send us a message.
