Story
Joan is fundraising for the Nepal Floods Appeal through ActionAid.
In 2024 Joan visited Nepal and embarked on an epic trek in the mountains around Annapurna. She was instantly struck by the country's beauty and it's people's kindness.
A catastrophic flood struck Nepal’s Rasuwa district on 26 August after an intense surge of water entered the Bhotekoshi river and rapidly travelled downstream through the Trishuli river corridor.
At least 470 people have died and more than 826 people are reported missing. Approximately 317,000 people have been impacted and at least 40,000 people have been displaced.
Entire communities are experiencing extensive destruction, with homes, markets, bridges and roads washed away or severely damaged.
Search and rescue operations are underway, and the scale of the disaster is only just unfolding. ActionAid and their partners are providing emergency shelter, food, safe water, along with medical and protection services, especially for women and children, who are are in urgent need.
Thank you for making a donation to my fundraiser and supporting those most impacted in Nepal.
