Story
Two Friends. One Wall. One Mission.... On 5 September 2026, we (Jane and Jo) will take on five of the toughest sections of the Great Wall of China to raise £8,000 for CoppaFeel!
We’re launching this on 4 February – World Cancer Day – because early detection saves lives.
This isn’t a gentle walk. It’s five gruelling days, up to seven hours a day, at high altitude, across steep, uneven terrain. Think near-vertical steps, loose stone, slippery slopes and walking poles doing some very heavy lifting. To get there, we’ll be committing to six months of focused training.
It’s big. It’s tough. And it matters.
Jo’s story
Six weeks before her 50th birthday, Jo found a lump. No screening or routine mammogram. Just her checking her body and trusting her instinct enough to act.
Jo moved through diagnosis and treatment with positivity and calm determination, finding strength in exercise and movement even when energy was low and uncertainty was high. She finished 6 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in April 2025 and six months later, ran a half-marathon.
If sharing Jo’s story, training for this challenge, and tackling a very unforgiving wall helps even one person check sooner, it will be worth every step.
Why we are doing this together
We raised our families side by side after meeting through our kids at nursery and have been second mums to each other’s children for years. They’re now young adults, so CoppaFeel!’s message isn’t abstract; it’s personal and so relevant.
Between us we have been through our fair share of life’s ups and downs. Walking this wall together is our way of honouring what Jo has come through and using it to help others catch breast cancer early, when outcomes are so much better.
Thank you for supporting us, for supporting CoppaFeel! and for helping turn awareness into action.....and please, check your chests and pecs. Then remind someone else – male or female – to check theirs.
Big love, Jane and Jo
