Story

Dear kind people

Joseph and I are taking part in the Norfolk Superhero this year. It is an incredible thing to be a part of for us. We definitely will not be competing with anyone - more just aiming to complete it.

Doing the Superhero is a wonderful way to support charities in our community and NORLSAR is a great charity for us to raise money for because we live in Norfolk. The thought of having lost a friend or family member is terrifying, and this is a great opportunity to support a charity with 51 volunteers who give their time and energy to searching for missing people in our County. In particular, with this consistently volatile weather, the new boats that we are raising funds for will be able to help people affected by flood.

NORLSAR are a highly trained, dedicated and motivated volunteer Lowland Rescue team. Providing Blue light services with specialist expertise to assist with the search for vulnerable missing persons throughout Norfolk in all weathers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.

Deployed to search for high risk missing persons That may be despondent or in some cases suicidal. NORLSAR’s aim is to find a missing person alive and return them to their family where they can gain ongoing support from professional organisations that may be required.

Over the years, NORSLAR have been a reassuring presence for many Norfolk Superhero participants during the Swim and Kayak legs providing rescue and safety personnel out on the water. The funds raised by the Norfolk Superhero will go towards buying two lighter, more dynamic inflatable boats and specialist equipment which will enable more efficient search and rescue operations for a missing person, as well as assist with local flood resilience
