Story
Toward the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026 my mum was a resident at St Cuthbert's Hospice for end of life care. The care she received was heart warming and I am so glad that she was able to spend the last weeks of her life at St Cuthbert's - the staff there are brilliant.
My mum's tragic death has led me and my 2 brothers signing up to complete the Great North Run to raise money for St Cuthbert's so that we can show some gratitude and give back to such a brilliant cause as to pay it forward to someone else or someone else's loved one who may ever be in the position to need the care St Cuthbert's provide.
I am not a runner! I'm starting the preparation to the GNR at a light 18 stone so just know I am earning every penny of any generous donation!
Thank you for any support,
Joe
Over three decades ago, a group of Durham residents came together for a common cause. They saw the absence of care and support available for those coming to the end of their lives and decided to take action. Thanks to their many years of fundraising and dedication, St Cuthbert's Hospice first opened its doors in 1988 to provide services, free of charge, for those living with life-limiting illnesses, people approaching the end of their lives and families who are bereaved.
