Milan to Innsbruck Cycle Ride · 21 June 2024

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

This summer an intrepid group of 17 riders take part in The European Wanderers’ ‘Milan to Innsbruck’ charity bike ride, a 400-mile, four-day bike ride from the fashion capital of Italy to the mountains of Austria with the aim of raising a combined minimum total of £10,000 for 4 different charities. The chosen charities for the group are: Mind, The Alzheimer's Society, AMMF and Tommy’s

Starting in Milan the first day of riding takes us some 112 miles alongside Lake Como and up into the mountains. On day two, another 100 miler, we hit the huge and iconic climb of the Stelvio Pass which warms us up for day three when we ride further into the Dolomites to the Sellaronda. The fourth and final day of the ride takes us north along weaving cycle routes towards a well earned rest in Innsbruck.

Personally, I will be fundraising for The Alzheimer's Society. Alzheimers and dementia are conditions that have, and will continue to, affect most families at some point. My Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers five years ago and her declined has been difficult to witness. Research into the condition continues and more effective medication is on the horizon however this is only going to become a reality through continued funding of The Alzheimer's Society. Please give whatever you can to help. Thank you!
