Story
My wife Sara was diagnosed with TNBC at 40. She experienced a recurrence at 54, and after grueling chemo and radiation, she is NED again. Her courage and strength fighting this disease is an inspiration to our family. And, throughout her illness, and the many years in between, her only thought is to help her fellow TNBC sisters with education, advocacy and support.
A 75-mile hike on the A.T. will include rain, cold, wind, knee pain, mud, and bugs – meager discomfort compared to the suffering experienced by women and their families battling TNBC. I hope you will join me in my effort to battle this cancer scourge!
P.S. Keep an eye out for photo updates on my progress.
Why support TNBC Foundation?
Funding Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) research is vital because it presents unique medical and societal challenges that aren’t well addressed by current cancer treatments.TNBC tends to grow and spread more quickly than other breast cancer subtypes. It has a higher likelihood of recurrence, especially within the first 3–5 years after diagnosis, and often leads to poorer survival outcomes compared to hormone receptor–positive cancers.
Because of its aggressive nature and fewer treatment pathways, TNBC has a higher mortality rate compared to other breast cancer types. Investment in research directly translates to lives saved.
There are no TNBC-specific screening methods. It’s often diagnosed at later stages, when treatment is more difficult. Funding can help identify biomarkers and improve early detection strategies.
Treatment of this form of breast cancer has therefore not progressed far enough and funds are desperately needed to bring us closer to finding a cure. Together we can make a difference!
