Story

On the 10th September 2019 my cousin Oliver Wissenbach tragically lost his life. He was only 25 years old. His family found him laying peacefully at the bottom of a swimming pool in Menorca. It was the first day of a much awaited family holiday. The subsequent diagnosis was that he had suffered from sudden adult death syndrome. He had died unexpectedly doing something he loved, taking a late-night swim. The family have turned this tragedy and their grief into purpose, to make a difference and build a legacy for Oli.

Oli was an English teacher, and always said that he wanted the world better because he was here. It’s a wish that we can all relate to – building a legacy with purpose that will outlast us all. The 100 Schools Project is raising money to build 100 schools in some of the poorest countries in the world, but we can’t do it alone and we need your help to do it.

I’ve decided to take on a challenge in memory of my cousin, who was such an adventurous and fascinating person. He loved life, new experiences, and doing things that were out of the ordinary. To honour his spirit, I’ll be abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower to raise money for The 100 Schools Project.

I didn’t want to do something simple or ordinary, because he was anything but. This challenge felt like the perfect way to reflect who he was – brave, full of life, and always up for an adventure.

By supporting me, you’ll not only be donating to an important cause, but also helping me celebrate his incredible memory in a way that feels true to him.
