Supporting Ukraine by running the Great North Run 2025

#SupportUkraine
I have recently joined this amazing team and am fundraising for the Ukrainian people affected by three years of unimaginable conflict, and counting. In 2025, I am aiming to run 500 miles for the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Running Club, #RCUCRC. 100% of donations go the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal. To give this challenge some focus, I have agreed (willingly!) to join Pierre and the #RCUCRC team as we collectively attempt to complete The Great North Run.

The Challenge
My challenge for the purposes of this fundraising page is simply to complete The Great North Run; half a marathon in old money. Surviving to tell the tale. Plenty of miles for someone much older than Jamie Vardy, while dressed in a retro Reg Vardy kit.
A few quick clicks supports Ukraine - 100%
It's easy to support and every penny is appreciated. Please help? There is a ‘Give Now’ button on my page. Every penny or £1 will literally support British Red Cross's Ukraine efforts.
Thanks a mill.
Sincerely, Jon
(new AKA, Reg)
About #RCUCRC
There are 60 members in the Sheffield #RCUCRC club and over 900 members worldwide on Strava at https://www.strava.com/clubs/rcucrc. Anyone is welcome to join, we organise regular #Virtual, and #InPerson ClubRuns in Sheffield (Tues and Sun) via www.rcucrc.org.uk or Strava, all are welcome. Ability and/or experience is no barrier to entry.
We are a team fundraising for the Ukrainian people affected by the Russian conflict. We run for the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Running Club, the RCUCRC. So, how did we start? When conflict began in Feb-2022, the RCUCRC founder, Pierre Laubscher, ran for the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Sheffield Half Marathon... and he just carried on. Up to Apr-2025, Pierre had run 5,545km - see the link to Pierre's story below! We have over 900 members worldwide at www.strava.com/clubs/rcucrc, and we organise regular #Virtual, and #InPerson runs in Sheffield UK, at www.rcucrc.org.uk.
Get involved yourself:
Do you want to do a bit more, and join the RCUCRC fundraising team for Ukraine? Do you have a challenge in mind? Email us at admin@rcucrc.org.uk, or choose your challenge, and join the fundraiser at https://www.justgiving.com/team/rcucrc?invite=true. You don't need to enter an event, you just set up your own RCUCRC page, and copy, paste and amend this story as your own with your challenge. Then just run, ride, walk or keep fit for Ukraine.
Do you want to do something special? Join in the RCUCRC fundraiser and help the people of Ukraine. Your fundraiser could be one event, or your goal could be a distance target, for example, 100km or whatever you think, to suit your timeline? Maybe 500km or 1,000km this year, where your running app data so far counts towards your goal. Then go to www.justgiving.com/team/rcucrc?invite=true. For help, you can email admin@rcucrc.org.uk. Of course, you can donate at www.justgiving.com/team/rcucrc
