Running for Ronnie 💙 (Oh my GOSH rmx.)
Hello, I’m Jon. I'm the proud dad of Ronnie Gibbs, the reason you’ve found your way here.
This October, I’ll be attempting to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon. It’ll be my first half in many years (and trust me, my knees are already complaining), but I’m doing it for a cause very close to my heart: Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
When Ronnie was little, he needed a couple of operations on his kidneys. Like so many families, my wife (Tash) and I found ourselves walking through the doors of GOSH, it was humbling. What felt huge and scary for us was just another day for the staff there, who care for children facing far far tougher battles. They were incredible, and we'll never forget the kindness and support they showed us. Thanks to them, Ronnie is now a happy, cheeky nearly-three-year-old.
I know a fundraiser won’t come close to repaying what they do every single day, but if the money raised here helps put a few more toys in the playroom, or even a few more packs of Crawford’s custard creams in the staff kitchen (IYKYK), then it’s worth the steppage.
So here I am: nearly 40, a creaky-kneed veteran of the “used-to-love-running” club, dusting off my trainers to try and get over that finish line. This run isn’t about time, it's about getting round (by hook or by crook), and about giving a teeny bit back.
If you can spare the cost of a coffee, I’d be hugely grateful. Every penny raised will go straight to supporting the amazing work of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Thanks so much,
Jon
