1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. At Prostate Cancer UK, we’re giving every man the power to navigate it. With over £100 million invested in research, treatment, and care, we’re building a future where prostate cancer no longer cuts men’s lives short. Together, we can help save men’s lives.

Story

In March 2021 my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 advanced and aggressive terminal prostate cancer. Ever since his diagnosis, he has made it his mission to raise as much money for Prostate Cancer UK as possible.

Walking countless marathons, challenges over mountains, spinathons, fundraising events, raffles, auctions etc. you name it, he’ll do it.

But he is about to take on his biggest challenge yet; walking 588 miles from Newcastle to our home in Medway, Kent. This is his “March Through Life”. Visiting all the places across the UK that have played a part in his life.

I have always wanted to help fundraise as much as I can. As such, I joined my Dad in walking a marathon in 2023. But this year, I will be joining my dad for 5 days of his March Through Life. Starting in Durham, through the Yorkshire Dales, and finishing in Settle. Covering over 80 miles of walking and hiking.

In the grand scheme of things, I am taking on a challenge that is minuscule in comparison to what my dad will be doing over 36 days. But I am very excited, and nervous, to be able to play my part and raise as much money as I can for Prostate Cancer UK.

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men, and is the most common cancer amongst men in the UK. I urge everyone to encourage their loved ones, fathers, friends and family to get checked for prostate cancer, especially those over the age of 50.

Please help me, my dad and all the men who face this to fight for a better future.

Thank you!
