Help Me Send Kids to Camp! ⛰️🚴‍♂️

I’m riding 207 miles from Seattle to Portland (July 12–13) and 191 miles from Seattle to Vancouver (Aug 23–24)—so I’m asking you to ride alongside me in support of summer camp scholarships at Camp Seymour and Camp Lake Helena. My goal: raise $5,000 in the next 30 days so we can say “Yes!” to every kid who needs financial assistance to have a life-changing week at camp.

My Camp Story

I’ve volunteered for over a decade—and these memories still fuel me:

• Expo Road-Trip, 2019

Short bus, eight teens, Gig Harbor → Santa Cruz → back again. We visited several sumner camps, discovered every program does camp “right” in its own way, and brought fresh ideas home to our programs.

• Summer Sundays at Seymour

Greeting 1,500 families at check-in, hauling bags to cabins, hosting Camp Corral for kids of fallen and injured soldiers,, and swapping stories over brews with fellow volunteers—it’s where I fell in love with camp’s community spirit.

• Building Lake Helena’s Future

After purchasing the Camp Lake Helena property in 2019, we launched our Wednesday volunteer crew. The team is still out there repairing old and building new structures, maintaining trails, and making camp better for 1,500 campers to experience.

• Outdoor Environmental Education (OEE)

Each year, 11,000+ students attend OEE field trips—touch tanks at the Marine Science Center, the Living Machine that recycles water at camp, the famous “albatross” lecture, and campfire memories that last a lifetime. This year, state and federal funding for over ight outdoor education has been cut—so scholarships are more critical than ever.
