The whole swim takes place on a fast incoming tide that works like a bore to assist your swim. Past the narrows the water speeds up further, and the landscape becomes pastoral, the banks closer to you. You'll finish to hot chocolate and celebrations.

Story

Swim the river. Change a life.

This summer I’m taking on one of the UK’s wildest open water swims, a 10km cold water swim near my home in Llwyngwril from Barmouth to Penmaenpool. (Luckily there is a pub at the end) Apparently its only 6km as the tide will be behind us. I am 60 this year and after enjoying swimming in the lake for 5 years I have decided to celebrate this milestone with a challenge with friends and to raise money for a great charity.

It’s a proper challenge. Big nature, beautiful scenery, and hundreds of swimmers all taking on something epic together: I am busy training both in the pool and in the lake and am going to give it my best shot.

The charity is Level Water – a brilliant charity providing 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities. These lessons are joyful, empowering, and completely life-changing.

Every £15 raised gives a child the chance to learn to swim.

If you can, please sponsor me – it really will make a difference.
