Story
Yeah!!! I did it. The weather was kind this year, and I completed it in just over 9 hours.
I confess I have a few creaking joints, and tiredness, but overall, very happy. My cardio health could have done even more, but my legs had definitely had enough!
Thank you again for all your support - it really helped towards the end with motivation.
The donation page will be left open for another 10 days for any additional support.
I'm proud to be the Vice-Chair of trustees for The Chilterns Neuro Centre - a charity that enhances the quality of life of individuals, families and communities of people affected by neurological conditions.
After completing an Ultra Challenge 2 years ago, I said never again!! The combination of the weather, the shingle beach and the distance was an immense challenge to me but unlike many others, I can proudly say I made it to the finish line. But as I said….Never again!
So, it's 2 years later and I have been persuaded to challenge myself once again to raise awareness and funds to support the work of this amazing charity - it really is life-changing to those living with these conditions. On Saturday 12th September, I will be taking on another 50Km challenge, but this time along the Thames Path. I am hoping that the weather and the terrain will be a little kinder, so I can give all my energies to the challenge of covering 50Km.
Please donate what you can and every donation no matter how large or small will be greatly appreciated. I have funded all the expenses involved in the challenge so 100% of your donation will go to the charity.
About the charity……The Chilterns Neuro Centre supports people with MS, Parkinson's Disease and Stroke Survivors by offering a number of life changing and supportive therapies and treatments that are effective for them. We have a purpose-built hydrotherapy pool, hyperbaric oxygen chambers along with physiotherapy, Pilates, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and counselling, not to mention the provision of a supportive community, which all help empower people with neurological conditions to live life to the full. The Chilterns Neuro Centre currently supports over 800 people and that number is still increasing, all helped by our amazing clinicians, volunteers and the wonderful team behind them.
Our services are available to all. We have a nominal membership fee and we don't make any additional charges for treatments, classes or workshop but encourage people to donate where they can. This ensures our services are available to everyone irrespective of their circumstances but does mean the charity needs ongoing donations to fund their services.
If you aren't aware of the charity and you live in or around the Chilterns and think our services could help, please get in touch or visit our website for more information - https://chilternsneurocentre.org/
Thank you xx
