I’m doing this memory walk for my Mum Maggie, who was diagnosed with dementia about 7 years ago and my nan, Lillian, who is sadly no longer with us.

Also doing this walk with me is my brother, Dom.

Dementia is a very cruel and unforgiving disease which not only affects the person that has it but also affects those around them. You slowly see the person you know changing in front of you month by month/day by day.

There are thousands of people caring for their loved ones with dementia, a role that needs a lot of patience and understanding. They are angels in my book. My Dad Pierre is my Mum’s main carer and he does this with a lot of love, care, support and sometimes patience.

Currently there is no cure for dementia so I want to raise money for the fight against it and at the same time help raise awareness. Dementia is one of the UK’s biggest killers with someone developing it every
