Karen's fundraiser for Parkinson’s UK

Karen Towill is raising money for Parkinson’s UK

Team: Team Hebrides 2025

Trek of the Hebridean Way

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

My Summer challenge - 2025

The three woman ‘Team Hebrides’ (myself, Jayne & Ruth) will walk the 160 mile Hebridean Way (on the Outer Hebrides) to raise funds for Parkinsons uk.

The route starts on Vatersay and links 10 islands, with 6 causeways and two ferry crossings, ending at Stornoway on Lewis.

We will start our walk on Vatersay in the south and walk north to Stornoway. We have then planned four days of rest - which I think we’ll need!! Leaving the islands towards the end of June to begin our return journey home.

Our motivation has been witnessing Ruth’s husband Mark and his decline and the effect it has had on their family.

We’d love to raise as much as we can to ease the lives of current sufferers and their families. In addition to fund vital research and raise people’s awareness of the condition. It is the fastest growing neurological condition globally and currently symptoms can only be managed - there is no cure!

Big thanks if you are able to donate and share 🙏
