Story

🥾 Walking 23 Miles for the future of 1st North Berwick Scout Hall 🥾

I’m taking on the Glasgow Kiltwalk Mighty Stride (23 miles / 37km) on 26 April 2026 to raise funds for the renovation of 1st North Berwick Scout Hall.

I’ve been part of 1st North Berwick Scout Group for over 10 years and I’ve seen first-hand how Scouting helps young people grow and achieve new things and just how much our Scout Hall has helped nuture such growth.

Our Scout Hall has been at the heart of the community for over 100 years. Originally built as a church hall in the 1920s and bought by the Scout Group in the 1960s, it has supported generations of Scouts and many community activities. It’s been a meeting place for adventures, games, creativity, friendships, and celebrations and it has seen thousands of people pass through its doors.

After a century of service, the building now needs significant renovation. Plans include improving accessibility, upgrading facilities and improve the grounds, as well as making the hall more sustainable so it can continue supporting the local commuity in many ways, for many years to come.

My personal goal is to raise over £500 towards the renovation. The work required is significant and will cost several hundred thousand pounds, so fundraising like this really matters.

I’ve never walked anything like 23 miles before, so it will definitely be a challenge — but one worth taking on for a cause that means so much to me. This Scout Group has given me so much — wonderful friendships, confidence, new skills and a place to belong.

If you’re able to support me with a donation, no matter the size, it would mean a great deal to me while I stride towards the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement!
