Story
Hello, I'm Karo 😊

This May, I’m taking part in Walk Your AS Off to raise awareness of Axial Spondyloarthritis and support NASS, the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society.
I live with axial SpA, and my health is not at its best at the moment, so I’ve decided not to set a fixed fundraising or step target. Instead, my aim is to take part in a way that is honest, sustainable, and realistic for my body.
Throughout May, I’ll be trying to stay active each day in whatever way I can. Some days that may mean walking. Other days it may be stretching, exercises, housework, or time working in my workshop. Walk Your AS Off allows different activities to be converted into steps, which makes it much more accessible for people whose health and mobility can vary from day to day.

As an artist and maker, my workshop is also part of how I keep moving. It may not always look like traditional exercise, but standing, reaching, lifting, tidying, building and creating all take energy, especially with axial SpA.
This will mainly track my own progress, but friends and family may occasionally join me for walks or activity, so some updates may include shared steps too. Any donation, share, or message of support would mean a lot. More than anything, I hope this helps raise awareness of what living with axial SpA can look like: not always dramatic, not always visible, but often a daily negotiation with pain, stiffness, fatigue and determination.
