Story
Cancer didn’t just take someone from me - it changed everything.
In December 2025, I lost my father to cancer. Watching someone you love go through that is something that stays with you. It’s not just the loss, it’s the feeling of wanting to do more, to help, to somehow be part of something that could make a difference for someone else.
That’s why I’ve signed up for the Robin Hood Half Marathon 2026.
This race is deeply personal. Every mile I run is in memory of my dad, and for every family facing cancer right now.
I’ve run a half marathon before, around 6 years ago, but this time feels completely different. This time, it means something more. I’ve started training again - running 5Ks two to three times a week, and pushing myself with a 10K each week - slowly building towards September 27th. It’s tough, but it’s also incredibly motivating knowing why I’m doing it.
I’m raising money for the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre, whose work is helping drive forward vital cancer research and bring hope to so many people. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that even small actions can mean something. Supporting research, raising awareness, or donating - it all matters.
If you’re able to support, even a small amount, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if not, sharing this page would mean just as much.
This run is for my dad. And for everyone still fighting.
