Story
Elijah is my seven year old son. He is a highly energetic, caring and emphatic little boy. Recently, I had a discussion with Elijah, about some of the charity events I have carried out to raise money. He was amazed and decided that he wanted to raise money for a charity. When going through some of the charities together- Elijah decided to raise money for the Children's Cancer Unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Elijah's 'High Five Fundraiser' aims to help the amazing superheroes who provide and use the facilities.
Over the next few months, Elijah will be doing:
1. A 5K run in fancy dress (split into potentially 2/3 runs).
2. A raffle
3. A sponsored swim.
4. A bake sale
5. We are yet to decide...
Why Elijah chose this charity:
Every year, sadly there are children in Cornwall diagnosed with cancer. Many will spend days, even weeks, in hospital, away from school, friends, and the comfort of their home.
At the heart of their care is the Children’s Cancer Unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital — a place of compassion, expertise, and hope. But while the clinical team provides outstanding treatment, there is always room for improving facilities and supporting the children and their families.
Elijah is supporting The Children’s Cancer Unit Fund of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity and raise vital funds to:
- Enhance inpatient bedrooms to feel warm, homely and restful.
- Improve play areas and teenage social spaces.
- Provide creative resources, activities, and equipment.
- Support families who are navigating cancer alongside their loved one.
Together, we can make a difference in small lives.
