Read-A-Thon for Action Tutoring

Kate Farley is raising money for Action Tutoring
Action Tutoring's first Read-A-Thon challenges staff and friends of AT to set their own targets to read as many pages or for as many hours over October half term as possible, to raise funds and awareness for AT.

Story

This is Action Tutoring's first readathon and as a self-proclaimed bookworm I wanted to get involved.

I am currently in a bit of a reading slump but am hoping to get back into the habit by reading for an hour every day for the duration of the challenge. I'm asking friends and family whether they could donate the cost of a coffee towards our life-altering work, supporting young people to thrive in maths and English.

We all know how important qualifications are in accessing options post-school, and Action Tutoring provides tailored support for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

More about the challenge we're tackling:

Year after year, the data tells us that education in this country is not equal.

Right now, pupils facing disadvantage are, on average, over 1.5 years behind their peers. It’s an unfair gap that Action Tutoring are determined to close.

Our targeted, small-group tutoring programmes can leapfrog a child forward, making them more likely to achieve crucial pass grades and opening doors to future opportunities.

Tutoring improves grades.

Every child has potential.

Your family’s income should not determine your chances of success.

Thank you for supporting me in this challenge and helping Action Tutoring to continue changing the trajectory of young lives across the country.
