Story
So....I've done a thing. In memory of a very special little girl, a little girl who touched the lives of so very many people, on 4th April 2027 I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Team Lacey, raising money for the Lily Foundation.
I count myself as very lucky to have met Lisa & Dom Leggett, to count them as my friends, and to get to know and love their beautiful children. As many of you know, they experienced the unimaginable heartbreak of losing their beautiful daughter, Lacey, to mitochondrial disease. I never got to meet Lacey, but I know we would have loved her just as much as we love her younger sister and brother. Running this half marathon is my way of honouring her memory while helping other families facing the same devastating journey.
Mitochondrial disease (often called “mito”) is a rare, complex genetic condition that can affect any organ in the body at any age, although it often impacts babies and young children. It can be incredibly difficult to diagnose, and sadly, there is currently no cure.

The Lily Foundation provides vital support to families living with mitochondrial disease, as well as those who have lost loved ones. They also fund essential research to help find better treatments and one day, a cure.
I'll freely admit, I'm slightly terrified - I'm not exactly fit at the moment and it's been a long since I ran further than down the road - but I also can't wait to take part, and help do my bit to help raise funds to for the Lily Foundation and all they do help give hope to families affected by this devastating disease.
Over the coming months I'll be training hard and I'd be so grateful if you could support me along the way. Every donation, no matter how big or small, really will help make a real difference.
