We lost our amazing Nils in May 2024. On 7th June 2026 a team of 36 of his family and friends will be running between 2k up to a half marathon in memory of Nils and to raise money for Jigsaw South East, a local charity which supports children after the death of a loved one.

Losing a spouse or parent at a young age isn’t something you ever get over or move on from, we feel Nils’ absence every day and miss him constantly. It’s something that will affect Kira and Freddie for the rest of their lives, on the big occasions and milestones, and just as much in day to day life. Nils’ love, warmth, kindness, smile and brilliant sense of humour, filled our lives with happiness and laughter.

I also lost both of my parents, the children’s much loved grandparents, within 2 years of Nils. The multiple close family bereavements in such a short time has been unimaginable and leaves a huge hole in our lives.

Jigsaw were there at every stage, with a case worker who I could speak to at any time, providing advice and reassurance and helping me to support the kids through this incredibly difficult and lonely time. They also provide resources and liaise with schools to help grieving children, as well as arranging activities, courses and social events for bereaved families.

We’d be hugely grateful for any contributions to this wonderful cause. Jigsaw rely completely on donations to fund their work.

Nils loved physical challenges, and often made them even harder for himself by turning up on the start line with insufficient training! We’ll be thinking of Nils on the day and will be inspired by his determination, huge heart and all our happy memories of him.
