Plymouth Half Marathon · 28 April 2024 ·

The Williams Syndrome Foundation was formed in 1980 and is run by parents for parents of children with this rare condition which causes heart and kidney problems and learning difficulties. It desperately needs funds to finance its ambitious research and family support programmes which include national conventions and regional meetings.

Story

My colleagues and I have signed up for the Plymouth Half Marathon and 10K run on April 28th to raise money for the Williams Syndrome Foundation.

My colleague Katherine's brother Tom was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome when he was 3 years old. It is a life long developmental disability, and can cause a huge range of difficulties. However, the Williams Syndrome Foundation charity have been there for them from the start, from sharing advice and knowledge to forming close friendships with families through similar experiences.

I personally will be attempting the 10k having had no experience running but very keen to run for a good cause.
