Story
My brother Tom was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome when he was 3 years old. It is a life long developmental disability, and can cause a huge range of difficulties. However, the Williams Syndrome Foundation charity have been there from the start for my whole family, from sharing advice and knowledge to forming close friendships with families through similar experiences.
I then completed my PhD in children's experiences of Williams Syndrome in mainstream primary schools. Tom was invited to my workplace for a party to celebrate his part in agreeing to be part of my PhD writing, and inspiring the research.
My colleagues and I have signed up for the Plymouth Half Marathon and 10K run on April 28th to raise money for the Williams Syndrome Foundation. I personally will be attempting the 10k having had no experience running apart from joining the rugby team last year!
