Story

✨ Couch to… half marathon? ✨

Edinburgh holds a special place in my heart as we had so much happy memories there with Dad 🌃

I have added a pic of my Da on one of our trippys on the train to Edinburgh, how cool is he? I’m struggling not getting to see his facey so much and if I can raise money to help someone get longer looking at their best pals facey, its ah ganti be worth it. ✨

My dad passed away July 2024 very suddenly, and I want to raise money and raise awareness 🤍

Bowel Cancer UK 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

My dad ALWAYS completed his FIT (bowel screening test) and had none of the classic signs of the illness but unfortunately, 𝗯𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 and only begin to show when it has progressed to later stages.

After having pain in his liver, Dad had to get scans fast tracked through private health care, to avoid being stuck on an NHS waitlist. However, private healthcare is not an option once a tumour has been found and it felt like we spent a life time waiting for news of scans, biopsies, a diagnosis - the strain on the NHS is evident 📋📉

How long ago does 5 weeks ago feel? Really nae lang ago, feels like yesterday, does it? That’s how long we had from the diagnosis of uncurable Stage 4 bowel cancer to Dad’s passing - 5 weeks. And YES, it went in just as quick and as a family still struggle to come to terms with just how quickly oor precious Da was taken from us. 💔

Below are the symptoms of Bowel Cancer. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗳 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆, we need to help fund Bowel Cancer UK to aid their action plan for earlier detection.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄, 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴! 🖥️💩
