In loving memory of Sue Kemp

Mum was supported by the Margaret Kerr Palliative Care team across the last 9 months, and had two stays in the unit. The team worked hard to get the care and support right for her as her cancer advanced and impacted her in different ways.
Mum spent her final three weeks in the Margaret Kerr Unit, and the care and compassion that Mum, Dad and I received from the full team was second to none.
Not all heros wear capes, some have blue or green uniforms.
Some further background on the unit:
The Margaret Kerr Unit was fully funded by charitable donations. We received a generous legacy from Nurse Margaret Kerr which inspired the appeal to build a specialist palliative care facility in the Borders. Thanks to the generosity of the Borders' public in raising the 'final million' we raised the full sum of £4.1 million to build the Margaret Kerr Unit which opened in January 2013.
The team also look after patients in their homes, community hospitals and care homes in along with those in the BGH and MKU.
We are grateful for the ongoing support and donations to the fund. Any donations to The Margaret Kerr Unit and Palliative Care fund are used to:
make improvements in the garden
provide artwork throughout the Unit
assist with patient transport costs
provide complimentary therapies
provide free tea and coffee
develop palliative care services throughout the hospital and community
