Story
I'm running the London Marathon for HEART UK – because my husband thought having a heart attack at 38 was a good way to keep life interesting.
Spoiler: it wasn’t.
In all seriousness, that moment turned our world upside down. He was young, and seemingly healthy, so we never expected something like that to happen so early. Thankfully, he's still here, but it opened our eyes to just how common and dangerous heart conditions can be — even in people who look "healthy."
So here I am... someone who used to think a 5K was a long way, training to run 26.2 miles (yes, miles 😳) for HEART UK, a charity doing amazing work to prevent heart disease and support families affected by it.
There will be sweat. There will be blisters. There will definitely be ugly crying. But I’m doing it to raise awareness, honour my husband, and help HEART UK continue their vital work.
Please support me – whether it's a donation, a cheer from the sidelines, or just promising not to laugh when I walk like a penguin for a week after.
Every bit helps, and your support genuinely means the world.
Thank you so much from the bottom of my (and my marathon-tested) heart! 💓
