Story
This May, Keith Smalldon will be taking on the epic challenge of the Westcountry Ultra 100 Miler. The challenge is to run a 100-mile course over just 32 hours. Keith is taking part in celebration of the centenary of Hickleys who have reached the incredible milestone of 100 years in business. Keith and Hickleys have decided to nominate The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital as the charity of the year for 2025. The Beacon Centre provides incredible cancer care and treatment to the people of Somerset, and we hope that the spirit of celebrating our business milestone lifts people to raise money for this important charity.
The Ultra 100 in a nutshell
The 100 Miler combines the routes of the Flat 50 and Hilly 50 into one unforgettable running experience. In terms of how tough this 100 is compared to others in the UK, the most challenging thing about it is the fact that the first half has only around a quarter of the elevation of the second. You have a generous 32 hour cut-off and if you can keep moving forward this is achievable. The route showcases so many highlights of Somerset that you won’t believe it’s just one race!
