Story
This July, Darcie and I are taking part in the BHS Rideathon because protecting safe, off road spaces for horses and riders to enjoy is important to us.
Riding out gives us the chance to get exercise, fresh air and enjoy the countryside together away from screens and the pressures of life. Access to off-road spaces and bridleways is important to build confidence and feel safe away from traffic.
But it is getting harder to take that freedom for granted. Gates seize up or are impossible to open from the saddle. Bridleways become so overgrown that they are no longer passable. Routes we once used easily are suddenly out of reach, meaning fewer safe places to ride and enjoy time with our horses.
We are aiming to ride 50km or more this July to help change that. The money we raise will help keep off-road routes open, safe and accessible — not just for horses and riders, but for everyone who values access to the countryside.
If you can support us, thank you. Every donation helps protect these routes, so we do not lose the simple pleasure of being outside with our horses.
