Story
Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group is a leading children's cancer charity and the UK and Ireland's professional association for those involved in the treatment and care of children with cancer.
Each week in the UK and Ireland, more than 30 children are diagnosed with cancer. We bring together professionals to ensure all children receive the best possible treatment and care. We support young patients and their families with our award winning, expert information. We fund and support research into childhood cancers.
After unusual pain in his bones and several visits to hospital, Charlie was diagnosed with leukaemia exactly one month after his 4th birthday, in December 2023.
He was blue-lighted to Addenbrookes Hospital and started chemo that night.
We were reassured that Charlie was about to start a very well researched course of chemotherapy that would last about two and a half years and had high success rates.
If the initial diagnosis wasn't shock enough, the side effects that some of Charlie's chemo had were devastating. He has so far endured multiple stays in hospital including a 5 week stay with a few days spent in intensive care. Charlie suffered seizures, needed assistance with breathing and he temporarily lost his mobility, speech and sight.
Even though Charlie has already made staggering progress from his time in intensive care and we still have every hope that Charlie will get through his treatment and go on to live a happy and healthy life, we want to raise money to continue the research, development of treatment and support for families of children with cancer through the 'Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group'.
Please donate to help children like Charlie.
