Our Story:
We’re walking for a man who hasn’t stopped moving.
On September 14th 2025, we are asking the Kelsall community to come together for a special Charity Fun Walk in aid of Move Against Cancer—inspired by our good friend and all-round hero David Twiss.
In 2019, David was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer, despite feeling the fittest he’d ever been. That shock diagnosis came from a simple PSA blood test—a test that, in Davids own words, “likely saved his life”. Since then, he has become a powerful advocate for early testing and a living example of the strength of movement, both physically and mentally.
David has completed many challenges to keep moving and raise awareness. He ran the 36-mile Sandstone Trail, climbed the UK’s three tallest mountains, cycled the North Coast 500, conquered the Yorkshire Three Peaks, and finished with a 1,200-mile ride from Land’s End to John o’ Groats. Along the way, he raised over £12,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Move Against Cancer—charities close to his heart. He continues to inspire —completing Parkruns, 10Ks, and even visiting every Open Championship golf course across the UK. His story is one of resilience, purpose, and positivity.
So whether you’re walking with us, cheering from the sidelines, or donating what you can—thank you. Together, we’re moving for a great cause. And moving for David ….a man who moves us all.
About the Charity:
There's increasing evidence that moving more during and after cancer treatment can significantly improve physical & mental wellbeing. MOVE is embarking on a mission to support & inspire people to MOVE Against Cancer. We deliver an 8 week online programme for 13-30 year olds diagnosed with cancer. Our 5k Your Way initiative linked with parkrun, is a supportive community for anyone affected by cancer to go along to their local group & walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer on the last Saturday of the month. We also have a variety of online resources.
