South-West Coastal Path Relay - One Day! · 16 May 2026

Story

Sid, My granddad. A man who survived being a Japanese prisoner of war in Burma in WW2, came home with beriberi, malaria, and more, particularly the brain injuries you can’t see, and received precisely zero help for the trauma that never left him. The Royal Navy sailed his ship the long way around the world on the way home, docked at Southampton, and were then sent back around again, because the men on board were in such a state they didn’t want to shock the British public. Let that sink in.

And Sid? He never spoke about any of it. Not once.

What he carried in silence for the rest of his life, we now know as Complex PTSD. It’s a brain injury. You can’t fix it.

And the things our military, police, firefighters and paramedics witness? They can never, ever un-see them.

So on Saturday 16th May, we’re walking the entire South West Coastal Path. In one day. Yes, really, well ish - 50+ legs with many volunteers taking a section each to complete the path.

We’re raising money for 65 Degrees North, an incredible, volunteer-run charity that supports “rehabilitation through adventure” for physically and mentally wounded service people. The people who gave everything, getting the help they deserve.

👟 Want to sponsor us? Please do!

🦵 Want to walk with us? We need people for individual legs of the route - all welcome, no excuses accepted.

For Sid, for my wonderful mum, for Uncle Trev. For everyone still carrying what they can’t put down. 💙

The Event:

On May 16th, 2026, We will be participating in an ambitious event: walking the South West Coastal Path in a Day. This trail is the longest continuous path in the UK, consisting of 52 individual legs that each take one day to walk. Our goal is to have at least 52 individuals or groups join us on this journey—each walking one leg on the same day.

This event is open to everyone! If you’re looking for an opportunity to enjoy a day’s walk along some of the most breathtaking coastline in the world while supporting a worthy cause, I invite you to join us. Please spread awareness about this event among your friends and family; every step taken helps make a difference.

Together we can raise £5,000 for 65 Degrees North and continue their vital work in supporting those who have served our country. If you want to get involved or have any questions, please email me at swcp.65dn@gmail.com.
