26.2 miles for carers 💙

In April 2027, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon and running 26.2 miles to raise money for Carers Trust Heart of England.

My mum passed away last year, and this challenge is something I really want to do in her memory. She was a nurse for many years, so caring for others was a huge part of her life. I also saw first-hand the reality of caring when she looked after my aunt, who had dementia. I saw the struggles and the emotional and physical toll it could take, and how difficult things became before my aunt eventually went into a care home. It gave me a real appreciation for what unpaid carers do every single day. Before my mum passed away, I told her I’d try to make her proud, so hopefully running 26.2 miles and raising money for a cause so closely linked to something she cared about is one way I can do that.

Carers Trust Heart of England supports unpaid carers and young carers , people who give so much of their time, energy and lives to looking after someone they love.

Many carers are juggling caring responsibilities alongside work, school, family life and their own health and wellbeing. Having the right support at the right time can make an enormous difference.
