Walk For Nepal 2025

3 Yorkshire peaks - Walk for Nepal · 10 May 2025
With a group of friends, one of them being Paul (who is a proud Ambassador of the Pahar Trust Nepal), I am going to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks as part of the PTN's new campaign 'Walk For Nepal', raising vital funds to support two much-needed schools in hard-to-reach communities in rural Nepal.
The current schools in Dobhan in the Gorkha District and Siurung in the Lamjung District are unsafe for children, especially given the situation in Nepal, a country heavily impacted by earthquakes as well as landslides, often exacerbated by changes to the monsoon as a result of the worsening climate crisis.
(Shree Hanesh Himal Basic School is in Dobhan)
The two new school buildings will be earthquake resilient, offering a safe space to learn for the children of the two villages.
When Paul told me about this charity, I couldn’t believe that I had walked by these very schools before they were effected by earthquakes and in such disrepair back in 2004 (when Pete and me were lucky enough to be young and free for weeks on end to explore Nepal and walk the Annapurna circuit).
For the campaign as a whole, we will be raising a life-changing £10,000 to ensure these young students can continue their education in a safe and inspiring school.
So let's see how much our walk in the hills can boost the campaign total and make a real and lasting difference to children in Dobhan and Siurung.
