Story

Back at the beginning of 2025 we as a family started to notice that my son George who was 8 years old at the time had started loosing his eyebrow hair (we thought maybe the barber had caught it at first 🫣) but then we noticed he had been loosing eyelashes & eventually bold patches started appearing at the back of his head which progressively became larger & eventually after loosing almost 50% of his hair, he made the decision he wanted to shave the remaining hair he had left & went completely bold, a decision which was incredibly brave for an 8 year old boy & this became a very anxious time for him. He is now completely hair free & after consulting with the Doctors & dermatologist George was diagnosed with alopecia universalis.

It was an incredibly difficult time for us all as a family & George - his anxiety went through the roof, he had constant nightmares & needed lots of reassurance & comfort. As parents, George's Dad & I found it extremely difficult in that there was nothing that we could do to help & with no cure & no timeline on when or even if ever his hair would grow back & even if it does there is a high chance he could loose it again.

Then we discovered Alopecia UK & went along to one of their events for children that they regularly put on - this was Bristol Zoo for our first attendance & where George was able to enter for free thanks to the charity & we met some incredible families & volunteers. We have since joined them on a trip to Alton Towers & just being around others who understand what having alopecia is like & being able to connect & talk to other families is just so incredible & uplifting.

The charity do & provide so much in helping & supporting those with alopecia & their families & I am honoured to be able to do my bit to help give something back to a charity who have been incredible & given us some amazing opportunities for George to feel accepted & supported.

I appreciate times are hard however I would be ever so grateful for whatever you can afford to donate & help me in raising as much money as I can for a this amazing Charity.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story,

Kim 💙❤️
