Noah’s Star supports families of premature and sick babies and children within Neonatal Unit’s and Childrens Hospitals. In July 2015, the founders twin boys, Oscar, and Noah, were born at 25 weeks. Tragically, Noah lived for only 30 hours, while Oscar faced various health conditions. Balancing their older child’s needs, coping with the loss of Noah, and managing constant anxiety about Oscar's health created immense challenges for the family. Recognising the struggles faced by families in similar situations, the founder of Noah's Star is determined to use her personal experiences and passion to help others. Our objectives are to: • Provide emotional support for the whole family facing the challenges of premature birth • Share practical advice and coping strategies. • Reduce feelings of isolation by connecting parents with others who have similar experiences. • Promote mental health and well-being for the whole family during and after their NICU stay.

Story

29th June 2025, I will be taking part of a Sky Dive event raising money for Noah’s Star.

My son Leo, was born at 32+5 and what was to follow, wasn’t what I had imagined my journey to be as a first time mother. I got to meet by baby boy for 10 seconds then our NICU journey began. Anyone who has had a premature and sick baby knows just how challenging and terrifying the NICU journey can be. Being told to take each day as it comes isn’t what any parent wants to hear but this is the journey Leo wanted to take us on, and I wouldn’t change any of it. Leo has overcome so many obstacles and hurdles over the past 2 1/2 years including being diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, but he shows us every day how strong and determined he is (Leo the lion, right!?) even when he’s a typical toddler and his favourite word currently is No.

Noah’s Star is a registered charity that supports families of premature and sick babies and children within Birmingham Women's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Birmingham Children's Hospital Neonatal Surgical Ward all year round. They also offer continued support once you have left the hospital environment. Noah’s Star makes sure parents have tea/coffee/food as all your energy and thoughts go towards your child so when you’re not thinking about yourself Noah’s Star are, including sibling support by providing an area for children to play, and activities to occupy them whilst their parents spend time with their poorly baby or child. They also offer peer mentoring, counselling, knitted clothes for the babies, crocheted octopuses/teddies, story books, gifts for those spending time in hospital over the festive period, community support such as stay and plays, days out/events and so much more!

I’m wanting to give back and help raise money for Noah’s star, as a way of saying thank you for supporting us and knowing they will be able to have continued funding to help and support other families. So, any contributions you can make will be gratefully received and I appreciate you taking the time to read the above and helping this amazing cause.
