Join the abseil adventure and descend from the top of Exeter Cathedral’s Norman North Tower. We are looking for adventurous people to get involved in our sponsored abseiling event to help raise funds for the building of our new Cloister Gallery.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. On Saturday 4 May I am abseiling from the top of Exeter Cathedral’s Norman North Tower to raise funds towards the building of a window in their new Cloister Gallery.

The new structure will connect the Cathedral with the 13th century Chapter House and Pearson Building with a new shop and exhibition of the Cathedral's Treasures including the 10th Century Exeter Book which includes many intriguing Saxon riddles.

This is part of a development appeal project to make the Cathedral more inclusive and allow people from across Devon and farther afield to appreciate and ‘own’ their cathedral, Devon’s greatest building.

The Cathedral's lighting has been condemned. It doesn’t work for visitors or users, and offers nothing to display and interpret the heritage. The heating is failing at ground level, and is damaging the 14th century high-level stonework. The WCs are woeful, and very difficult to access.
