Story
Throughout January I set myself the challenge of running 43 miles (equivalent of the average monthly distance the vans travel between Newcastle to Sunderland) in support of the amazing charity FareShare North East. It’s been a great opportunity for me to hold myself accountable for my health and running goals, and feels great to do it in support of an amazing cause.
As a charity organisation, FareShare North East have 8 vans that leave the Newcastle and Middlesborough depot each day, with average costs to run the vans equating to £6,000 per month. They are such an amazing organisation that rescue surplus food, and cook free nutritious meals for people in need. They provide a vital service to our local community.
Through taking part in the Route Runner Challenge 2024, I’m now at 42 total miles with one more to go tomorrow before reaching my final target.
Follow me on Strava to track my progress with me https://www.strava.com/athletes/39240118. I will also be posting the final mileage as proof of my effort at the end of the month.
Any pennies you could spare in support of FareShare and the wonderful service they provide would be massively appreciated! The cut off for donations is Wednesday 31st of January.
