Dance-a-thon · 16 May 2026

We are a small organisation committed to improving the lives of children and young people with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 by giving them the opportunity to meet others with the condition at specially arranged camps. We also aim to organise days out for families and fund research

Story

Maisie will be taking part in a 5 hour dance-a-thon on Saturday 16th May.

Maisie was diagnosed back in October 2024 at the age of 6 with a rare genetic condition called neurofribromatosis type 1 micro deletion. This causes tumours to grow along nerves in the skin, brain and other parts of the body. It also comes with neurodiversity symptoms and learning difficulties. NF1 also affects your coordination, speech, memory, concentration, causes fatigue and pain in all your joints. Maisie has lots of check ups to keep an eye on all her body and we very thankful to say after her last MRI she is still tumour free. Maisie is currently awaiting an operation to correct her soft palate to help with her speech.

Maisie has lots of battles for a 7 year old but she is the most resilient little girl we know.

Maisie’s passion is dancing. Yes it’s hard for Maisie but it’s what makes her happy. It’s where she gets to be treated exactly the same as all her friends. Which is why this year she has chosen to do a dance-a-thon to help raise money for ‘Childhood Tumour Trust’. This charity has helped us from the moment we got Maisie’s diagnosis. They run charity days for families to meet, zoom classes, always at the end of a line when you need advice or just a shoulder to lean on. But charities need donations to keep going which is why this year Maisie is taking on a 5 hour dance-a-thon. May is NF1 awareness month and we would be so grateful if you could help support us and raise as much money as we can for this wonderful charity that is now a part of our lives.
